Long Chunky Goddess Braid on short hair
This tutorial will show you how to make a sophisticated chunky goddess braid in five minutes.
This jumbo goddess braid is a simple yet amped-up hairstyle that’s perfect for short to medium hair. Like our other goddess braid styles, this is a perfect protective style that’s easy on your budget and can be done in five minutes. This tutorial will show you how to get the look in six easy steps.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Denman brush
- Boar bristle brush
- Styling gel
- Jumbo braiding hair
- Ponytail holders
- Bobby pins
Step 1: Smooth hair into a simple bun
Start with clean, detangled hair. Pull hair into a simple bun using styling gel and Denman brush. You can do this by making a ponytail without pulling the hair completely through. Smooth with the boar bristle brush and secure with 2-3 ponytail holders as needed. As a result, the bun should be as compact as possible.
Step 2: Wrap braiding hair around bun
Before beginning this step, find the center section of the braiding hair, which should be secured with a rubber band. Knot a ponytail holder around the center section so that you can secure it to your bun.
Next, attach braiding hair to bun using the knotted ponytail holder. Bun should be completely concealed by the braiding hair. Pin around the base of your bun to secure.
Step 3: Create your jumbo goddess braid
Once you’ve wrapped the hair around your bun, you can create the goddess braid. Toss the braiding hair toward the front of the head. Braid in a big, fluffy braid to the end; secure with a small rubber band.
Step 4: Fluff out the braid
Next, fluff out the braid by gently pulling and loosening it along the length.
Step 5: Pin goddess braid to secure
Pin braid to head to secure in place. Trim stray braiding hairs from length of braid.
Step 6: Smooth edges with gel to finish
This gorgeous look can be done in as little as five minutes flat! When you don’t have much time but need to look pulled together, this is a quick, easy-to-do solution. Jasmyn Destine on YouTube has a great video on how to get this look. Enjoy!
